Beauty standards has changed to healthy and authentic
The makeup world has undergone a quiet revolution, shifting away from the full-coverage, heavily contoured looks that dominated the 2010s toward something far more stripped back and intentional. The “no-makeup makeup” aesthetic — dewy skin, brushed-up brows, and a swipe of tinted lip balm — has become the ultimate beauty flex, suggesting that your skin is simply that good on its own. Clean makeup brands like ILIA, RMS Beauty, and Kosas have risen to cult status by promising formulas free from harsh chemicals, while simultaneously delivering that effortless, skin-like finish everyone is chasing. Foundation is being replaced by skin tints, heavy contouring by natural bronzers, and dramatic eyeshadow by glossy, fresh-faced looks. Even the way makeup is marketed has changed — less about covering up flaws and more about enhancing what you already have. Yet the irony remains: achieving that perfectly “natural” look still requires skill, time, and often a very expensive product lineup. The message may have changed from hide yourself to free yourself, but the pressure to look a certain way — even naturally — never fully disappears.
